I was in Thailand for the second time and managed to finally bring my family along. For a long time, the plan was to visit Ayutthaya after a couple of days in Bangkok. We thought, however, that it might be nice to go to a Thai beach since it was summer already and the prospect of going around Ayutthaya on a bike seemed difficult since we have with us a 9-year old child who might not be prepared to pedal for what we imagined as the length of time and distance necessary to appreciate Ayutthaya.
Flying to Phuket was not an option so we did a research on some other possible destinations closer to Bangkok. I came across a lot of nice write ups about Koh Sichang but this one convinced me the most. I am happy to note that 90 percent of what was described in the site was substantially accurate. There is nothing exactly and singularly spectacular in the island. But the laid back and steady vibe makes a trip to and couple of days stay in Koh Sichang worthwhile.Nothing to overwhelm your senses but it has several little pockets of beauty that you can enjoy at an unhurried pace. What I remember most was the friendliness of the locals.I’ve observed, in fact, that even the dogs treat strangers rather nicely. They don’t bark at you when you pass by the front yard or gates of their owners’ homes.
